For the first time in its history, on 4/21 ISO-NE reported lower midday demand than overnight demand. This is due to the high presence of solar generation, both utility-scale and behind the meter. As solar generation is expected to increase its penetration of the northeast market, the duck-curve pattern is likely to deepen and reduce on-peak prices.

In spring weather news, temperatures in the Lower 48 states averaged 58°F, which is normal for this time of year but 2° lower than last year, and about 3° warmer than last week.
