Constellation published a post recently that compares the long-term energy outlooks of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) and Bloomberg’s New Energy Finance (NEF).
There’s a lot of information between the two reports, but our takeaway was on the state of natural gas.
In the EIA report, they predict that natural gas production will “account for nearly 40 percent of U.S. energy production by 2040”. The increase in shipping liquefied natural gas will play a big role in this prediction, since it opens our natural gas exports tremendously.
In the NEF report, they see natural gas as “filling a transitional role in the coming decades as the world economy shifts away from fossil fuels towards renewables.”
What Does This Mean for You?
Not much. These are some long, long term predictions that probably won’t impact us anytime soon. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting read and well worth your time!
