ENGIE recently released an excellent report on New York’s Clean Energy Standard that details how it will affect suppliers and consumers alike.
What is the Clean Energy Standard?
It’s a standard that requires that 50% of New York State’s electricity be generated by renewable resources by 2030. This will rely heavily on solar, wind and hydro generation.
According to ENGIE, the policy contains two key requirements:
- The Renewable Energy Standard
- The Zero-Emissions Credit requirement
In addition to these requirements, the policy also subsidizes struggling nuclear plans which ENGIE says will affect the rate payer.
