Hello to you! We want to start by saying thank you to our partners for bringing it these past few weeks. We have been rocking and rolling, and it has been fun! Fall vibes are in full swing here at BOX. Jason’s wife’s famous pumpkin bread has finally made an appearance, Danielle’s Cinnamon Cider Candle has been sparked, and we have Pumpkin Spice coffee pods in our cart. Many employees are participating in our Fantasy Football work league, and our commissioner, Jordan, has been putting together write-ups each week. It has been a favorite read for many. Election Day is around the corner, and we are allowing our employees to work from home (WFH) that day, so everyone has a chance to vote. We are about to start planning our end of year gifts for our dedicated partners, and we know you are excited! All and all, life is good at Broker Online Exchange, and we are thankful.

A Note from our Vice President - Benji Coomer
“Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.”
The ripple effect of a leader’s enthusiasm and optimism is awesome. So is the impact of cynicism and pessimism. Leaders who whine and blame engender those same behaviors among their teams and their colleagues. I am not talking about stoically accepting organizational stupidity and performance incompetency with a “What, me worry?” smile. I am talking about a gung-ho attitude that says, “we can change things here, we can achieve awesome goals, and we can be the best.” Spare me the grim litany of the “realist,” give me the unrealistic aspirations of the optimist any day.” -- General Colin Powell
A few years back, I was scrolling through LinkedIn and came across Colin Powell’s “18 Lessons in Leadership.” In a lot of ways, we took many of his lessons as a blueprint for how we wanted to conduct things at Broker Online Exchange, but something about this specific lesson struck a chord with me at the time. In the middle of building things, I can easily get caught up in the current reality and start analyzing “facts” too much. If I dwell on the current reality too long, It can start to get to me, and I can become critical. Usually, in these situations, I’ll call up Arthur, and he has this Zen Like quality of cutting through the clutter to remind me of the bigger picture and get us back on course.
Having leaders around that can always point to a brighter future and remind folks that we can become the best at something with an optimistic spirit and hard work. One of the character traits we look for in our employees is this enduring optimism in the face of current realities. Having that understanding that every day is not going to be awesome, but in the end, we will have a great story to tell about what we did.
My hope for us and all of our partners is that we have plenty of these people around that are pushing us, encouraging us, and painting the picture of a bright future and as General Colin Powell puts it, it creates a “force multiplier” in your organization!
With much optimism from everyone here at BOX, we appreciate you all!
